“I really admire Mr.Park as a teacher. He did an awesome job. I really gained a new perspective about college, school, and even life in general. He is very motivational. This came from when he told us about how in the grand scheme of things, grades really don't matter THAT much. What matters more is our "life score" as we put it. I always fall into the trap of caring too much about the actual number grade I get on assignments or tests. He said that the most important part is that we actually learn something and understand concepts on a deeper level. After thinking about this I know that this is what is really important in our journey and in succeeding in life in a more meaningful way. I am definitely going to take this philosophy along with me for the rest of my life so thank you.” (2022 Fall POLS 1101)
“With being professional, the way he taught was engaged me more than I expected to be. He was extremely funny and made the whole class laugh. I never knew a discussion class could be this fun. He didn't overdo it though. The class had engaging and deep conversations that I haven't seen in so long yet were balanced with lighthearted humor. It unexpectedly became a class I was unironically excited for. Juwon was an amazing teacher that I will never forget. Thank you Juwon!” (Spring 2023, POLS 1101)
“Mr. Park is an excellent TA. By far the best TA I have ever had and one of the best professors or teachers I have ever had. If I was in charge, I would hire him. He is engaging and challenges his students, but also encourages and cares. He knows everyone by name, he specifically challenges students on what they need not just the whole class. He gives his time and energy to his students. He also has compassion and understanding. He is a fair grader and encourages conversations and meeting about it. Also he encourages meetings to receive help. He generates interesting conversations in class with a seemingly impossible group of students.” (Spring 2022, POLS 1101)
“At the beginning of this class, I remember you asking, “Why is having a high GPA important?” or “Do you think having a high GPA is important?” Although it made me think at first, of course because it looks good on a resume and for graduate school, but the way you explained that it’s not only about the perfect grade, but the experience and knowledge get from school is something I will take away from this class. I recently edited my resume to stand out like you pointed out in class. I put the experiences and knowledge I can contribute to jobs. Thank you for taking the time to teach us about critical thinking and how to think beyond the limitations.” (Spring 2023, POLS 1101)
“Ju Won did a great job of following up on the concepts we learned in the lectures and applying them to real-world situations to make sure the class fully understood them. He was also great at facilitating discussion between the students and helping us see different sides to different issues.” (Fall 2022, POLS 1101)
“I absolutely loved taking this class because of its ability to make you think without pushing any kind of political viewpoints on a student. It inspires everyone to think about current world issues in many ways that they haven't thought before. Along with this, class discussions were led very well, with many different perspectives to be considered. Overall, this class was a great experience and taught me to think critically about different issues within the country.” (Fall 2021, POLS 1101)
